I started this series with Miles Davis, whoin my opinion,was the greatest jazz artist who ever lived. Miles' musictranscended all jazz eras, while at the same time converting his energy,creativity and skill to the highest level.

About the Artwork: Charlie Parker and Thelonius Monk seldom played together, I thought itfitting to include them both in the same painting. Bird flew in a rarefied air,in which his horn left haunting notes, that generations of jazz musicians lookedto for inspiration. Monk, like Bird, was concerned with growing and enrichinghis musical conception which came out of his life experiences, not from theory.

In this painting Sonny is pictured as he dida solo lasting twelve minutes. Not once did he repeat himself.
