About This Artwork:As a lover of modern art, I wanted to create a series of paintings based on thegreatest jazz musicians of all time. I started this series with Miles Davis, whoin my opinion, was the greatest jazz artist who ever lived. Miles' musictranscended all jazz eras, while at the same time converting his energy, creativity and skill to the highest level.
About This Artwork: He was known to all jazz enthusiast as "Trane", He was alsoknow for his freedom and self-expression which was on the level of a greatnessseldom attained in a lifetime This is what this painting is all about. CapturingColtrane in concert.
About the Artwork: Charlie Parker and Thelonius Monk seldom played together, I thought itfitting to include them both in the same painting. Bird flew in a rarefied air,in which his horn left haunting notes, that generations of jazz musicians lookedto for inspiration. Monk, like Bird, was concerned with growing and enrichinghis musical conception which came out of his life experiences, not from theory.
About This Artwork: After seeing Sonny Rollins live at the Newport Jazz Festivala few years ago, I knew Sonny was one of the few left to carry on the legacy ofMiles, Monk and Bird. I was right. In this painting Sonny is pictured as he dida solo lasting twelve minutes. Not once did he repeat himself.
About This Artwork: Stevie Ray was one of the greatest blues artist in and outof Texas. His fame was short lived, but few could match his mastery of theguitar. He added soul to the blues.
